Note of Interest for Recovery Walk 2017
Suggested Area: Derby East Midlands
Since October 2015 Aquarius has been building a Recovery Community within Derby City Centre. This community has been growing week by week and now we have over 50 individuals who have recovery at the centre of their lives.
These individuals are the heart and soul of the Derby Recovery Community and as such are passionate about promoting Recovery and the benefits across Derby City and also within other Recovery communities around the country.
Hosting the Recovery Walk 2017 would help grow our community but also put Recovery at the Centre of Derby City and the East Midlands, we are currently building partnerships with Derby University, Rethink, Brand Recovery and several other organisations that would happily get involved within the walk allowing us to reach out to all ages, genders and communities.
The Recovery Community is promoting the importance of multi-agency work to achieve an affective dual diagnose meaning that individuals in Recovery can truly get the support they need to achieve long term sustainable recovery.
Along with this we are also working to raise awareness of Drug and Alcohol issues within hard to reach community groups, i.e the Sheik community, LGBT community and the student community.
We feel that Derby is an ideal place to hold the walk due to the easy accessibility via road, train and public transport for all areas of the UK. Derby is a up and coming City with a growing business community that would get involved with the Recovery Walk as well as a growing focus of charities working together to create a strong community atmosphere within the City.
